ABOUT…
I was born at the end of the world, in a southern land full of contrasts and poets; my dear Chile. And although I didn't have much time to grow up there due to the military coup, my roots with that country run deep. I had a nomadic childhood, I changed school languages up to 4 times before I was 12 years old! First, a short year in Costa Rica. Then the United States. Later, back to Chile. From there to Germany and then France… I have always been and continue to be an immigrant, which taught me to be an expert in observation and adaptation…
When we arrived in Paris as a family, the young adolescent that I was then decided that this would be my home. I finished all my basic education in French public school, and I soaked up the art that floods the city of lights by practicing dance and modeling.
When I finished my baccalaureat, I did two short years of history at the Paris VII University and the Niels Arestrup Theater School in parallel. Then I stayed at the Paris Theater Conservatory after successfully passing a selective entry process. But the profession would catch me soon and I continued with my nomadic life, but this time as an actress.
I had the great privilege of performing with very talented co-stars and directors, in French early in my career, then in Spanish, and finally in English. I worked on huge Hollywood projects, as well as independent film. My profession took me to many corners of the world. In 1999 I moved back to the United States to promote the miniseries Cleopatra, where I was the lead.
Perhaps the fact of having been exposed to so many beauties of this world caused in me the need to take care of our ocean and our land. I felt that the most important thing was to protect what I most wanted: my sea in Chile. That is why I was very active in generating awareness of the need to improve the laws for the protection of cetaceans, as well as in the creation of marine parks. To this day, that is a theme that remains very present in my heart.
But my whole life changed when my first son, Matteo, was born. My little great teacher came into this life with a great health challenge; a degenerative genetic condition with no cure or treatment called Leukodystrophy AGS. My priorities and those of my husband Lucas changed radically during the almost 6 years that we had him with us. Caring for him, loving him and losing him profoundly transformed me and led me to write a book on this path called "To Heaven and Back" (edited by Penguin Random House). Sharing it with the world has been the most beautiful challenge I have ever had in life. Connecting with my readers on the difficult topics of death and resilience has been my way of keeping my son's presence alive.
Today, acting and writing continue to accompany me in life, now based in Los Angeles, California, with my husband Lucas and my princess Luna Mae.
